Microsoft HD Photo might be named JPEG XR
Microsoft welcomes the decision by the Joint Photographic Expert Group (JPEG), to introduce a new work item for the standardization of the HD Photo file format. This file format was announced at the Windows Hardware Engineering Conference 2006 in Seattle last year under the name Windows Media Photo. The standard is submitted to the JPEG national delegations for approval, and is tentatively titled "JPEG XR".
