Samsung GX-20 Digital SLR Review by Photography Blog

Review (Summary): "The Samsung GX-20 is a 14.6 megapixel, mid-range DSLR camera, which temporarily led the megapixel race when it was first announced back in January. Since then Sony have also unveiled a 14 megapixel camera, the A350, so Samsung no longer have everything to themselves in terms of headline resolution. ...

Nikon SB-900 Speedlight Review by Strobist

Review (Summary): "First impression: It is much bigger than the SB-800. Didn't really seem any heavier, but definitely takes up more space. This is a consideration for a couple of reasons. One, cubic inches matter when on the road. Not so much on a single flash basis, but if you are packing half a dozen SB-900s, you could probably cram seven SB-800's in the same space. ...

Casio Exilim EX-Z100 Review by Trusted Reviews

Review (Summary): "The Z-series is not exactly noted for its diversity, being populated by 14 models most of which are variations on the metal-bodied 3x zoom ultra-compact format, with the only differences being size, shape and resolution. The Z100 is different though. It is the first Casio ultra-compact to feature a 28mm wide-angle lens with 4x optical zoom. ...

Nikon D700 Digital SLR Review by Luminous-Landscape

Preview (Summary): "In brief, it is a full-frame (FX) camera using the same 12 MP sensor and image processing electronics as in the Nikon D3, except in a body closer in size and weight to the Nikon D300. Remarkably, the D700 has as much as 95% of the goodness of the D3 in a camera that costs some $2,000 less. If that isn't aggressive, I don't know what is. ...

Canon EOS Rebel XSi Review by Imaging-Resource

Review (Summary): "With an updated look and a slightly taller profile, the Canon XSi has a 12.2-megapixel CMOS sensor, a 3.0-inch LCD, an improved nine-point autofocus sensor, a DIGIC III processor, and is capable of 3.5 frames per second. Its new Live View mode is improved over the Canon EOS models introduced in 2007, offering both contrast-detect and the more traditional phase detect modes. ...

New 24 Karat Gold CD-R and DVD-R Discs Retain Data for 100-300 Years

As quoted in a recent PC Magazine article, a Harris Interactive poll found that 35 percent of consumers neglect to make backup copies of digital content stored on their computers, even though 50 percent have lost important data in the past. Even the "smart ones" who back up their important documents and photos multiple times use standard silver CD-Rs or DVD-Rs. These only have a shelf-life of approximately 10 years if stored in ideal conditions and handled properly. However, saving data on a disc is not the problem; what that disc is made out of is. Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab to the rescue. Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab has created the 24 Karat Gold ULTRADISC CD-R and DVD-R that can retain its specifications for up to 300 years and 100 years, respectively. The MoFi UltraDisc DVD-Rs sell for $59.99 for 25 discs ($2.40 per disc) and the DVD-R sells for $99 for 25 discs ($4 per disc).

Tamron SP AF 70-200mm F2.8 Di LD Lens Review by The-Digital-Picture

Review (Summary): "... Overall, and especially for the price, I'm very pleased with the image quality of the Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 Di Macro Lens. On the wide end (70mm), this lens is sharp wide open (f/2.8) across the entire 35mm frame. Stopping down only makes a small improvement in sharpness - reduced vignetting is the primary difference seen. By 100mm, the center is still sharp wide open, but corner softness is setting in due to a slightly curved focus plane. Stopping down to f/5.6 results in excellent image quality across the frame. ...

Nikon Coolpix P80 Review by PhotoReview

Review (Summary): "Nikon's Coolpix P80 combines a 10-megapixel sensor with an 18x 'superzoom' lens that offers wide-angle shooting at the equivalent of 27mm in 35mm format. The overall zoom range (which extends to the equivalent of 486mm) provides a useful span of focal lengths with relatively wide maximum apertures. ..

Nikon Coolpix P80 Review by Lets Go Digital

Nikon D3 DSLR Review by byThom

Review (Summary): "... Up to the D3, I knew of no digital camera I'd really trust at higher than ISO 1600. The problems are multiple. Many of you reading this may think that it's just about noise buildup that hurts high ISO digital images. No, it's not just that. Dynamic range tends to drop about a stop for each ISO stop increase (think about that for a moment and what that implies). ..

Fujifilm Finepix S100fs Review by DCResource

Review (Summary): "The Fuji FinePix S100fs ($799) is one of the more unique fixed-lens cameras on the market today. It features a larger-than-normal (2/3"), 11.1 Megapixel SuperCCD HR sensor, which (at least in theory) should give it better low light and high ISO performance than other compact cameras. The other "big" feature on the S100fs is its impressive lens: it covers an incredible range of 28 - 400 mm, and it has optical image stabilization, too. ...

New IPTC Standards for Sports Data and Photography

This is a major advantage for news publishers, archivists and photographers who depend on permanent IPTC photo metadata to help buy, sell and use photographs.
